Not to mention what a GREAT idea it is to have a foreign-made gift be (checks notes) AirForce One — what’s supposed to be one of the most tightly secure vehicle that a president travels in. No way *at all* that is a blindingly obvious security risk. Nope. No physical or digital “Trojan horse” possible with this “gift.” No chance of that at all.
And there certainly *can’t be* (linked in a comment below) bogus claims that Trump himself made in 2016 about Hillary Clinton being unfit for office because she “accepted” foreign gifts.
(Actually, the ethical way to “receive” foreign gifts is for them to automatically go to the U.S. National Archives or the federal General Services Administration. AFTER a diplomat/president/etc. leaves office, THEN they can *buy* the gifts back at an estimated fair market price. That’s the only way they end up for personal uses. See link below.)
