The Tennessee state Senate on Monday voted in favor of a measure to nullify a local-hire initiative previously approved by Nashville voters.
With a 27-5 vote, the chamber advanced an effort to nullify a controversial local-hire rule, which would require that at least 40 percent of work hours on city construction projects that cost $100,000 or more go to Davidson County residents.
